SafeWatch AI ("we", "us", "our") is a child-safe video curation platform designed to help parents find and manage age-appropriate YouTube content for their children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the SafeWatch AI application and related services.

Our Core Commitment: SafeWatch AI is designed with children's privacy as a top priority. We do not collect personal information directly from children. All account management and data input is performed exclusively by parents or legal guardians.

1. YouTube API Services

Our application uses YouTube API Services to search for, retrieve, and display video content. By using SafeWatch AI, you agree to be bound by the following:

We access the following YouTube Data API v3 endpoints:

Search API — to search for videos using parent-provided keywords with safeSearch=strict enabled.
Videos API — to retrieve video metadata including title, description, tags, duration, category, madeForKids flag, and age restriction status.

We do not access any user's YouTube account, subscriptions, playlists, or watch history. We do not upload, like, comment, or perform any actions on behalf of users on YouTube.

Revoking Access

You may revoke SafeWatch AI's access to your data at any time through the Google Security Settings page.

2. Information We Collect

Important: We do not collect the child's exact birth date, birth year, last name, location, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or any other personally identifiable information. Only a broad age group category is stored for content filtering purposes.

In compliance with YouTube API Services policies, video metadata retrieved from YouTube (titles, descriptions, thumbnails) is refreshed or deleted within 30 days.

3. AI-Powered Video Analysis

SafeWatch AI uses Google Gemini AI to analyze video content for child safety and educational value. Here is exactly what happens during analysis:

3.1 Data Sent to AI

When a parent requests an AI safety analysis of a video, the following video metadata is sent to Google Gemini:

Video title, channel name, and description
Video tags and category ID
Duration, madeForKids flag, and age restriction status
Caption availability

No personal data is ever sent to AI. The AI analysis is performed exclusively on publicly available YouTube video metadata. No parent information, child information, email addresses, names, or any other personal data is included in AI requests.

3.2 Data Received from AI

The AI returns:

A safety score (1-10 scale)
An age recommendation (e.g., "0-3", "3-5", "6-8")
A content summary in the parent's language
A list of educational topics
A pedagogical impact assessment
A list of risk flags (if any)

Parents can review this analysis before approving a video for their child's pool. The AI does not make autonomous decisions — all final content approval is controlled by the parent.

4. How We Use Information

Authentication: To verify parent identity and manage sessions.
Content Curation: To search for and filter age-appropriate videos using YouTube's safeSearch=strict mode and madeForKids flag.
AI Safety Analysis: To provide parents with safety assessments of videos before they approve content for their children.
Personalization: To deliver content in the appropriate language and for the appropriate age group.
Family Pairing: To securely connect parent and child devices using a unique 6-digit family code.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for operational purposes:

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

SafeWatch AI is designed for use by parents and legal guardians. We take children's privacy very seriously:

No direct data collection from children: Children interact with the app using a parent-configured profile. They do not create accounts, provide email addresses, or submit any personal information.
No advertising: SafeWatch AI does not display advertisements to children.
No tracking: We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or analytics trackers on children's profiles.
Parental control: All data input, video approvals, and settings changes are performed exclusively by parents through the authenticated parent panel.
No birth date collection: We only store a broad age group category (e.g., "preschool", "5-7", "8-12") — never an exact date of birth or birth year.
Child login is anonymous: Children access their profile by entering a 6-digit family code — no username or password required.

7. Data Security

All communications are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Passwords are cryptographically hashed and never stored in plaintext.
Database access is controlled via Row-Level Security (RLS) policies.
API authentication uses industry-standard JWT tokens.
Infrastructure is hosted on private, dedicated servers.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

YouTube metadata (titles, thumbnails, descriptions) is refreshed or deleted within 30 days, as required by YouTube API Services policies.
Video pool data is retained while the video remains in a child's pool and deleted when removed by the parent.
Account data is retained as long as the account is active. Parents may request full account deletion at any time.
Search queries are processed in-memory and are not persisted to any database or log file.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data and your child's profile data at any time through the app.
Modify or correct any data through the parent panel.
Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Revoke YouTube API access via Google Security Settings.
Export your data upon request.
